This is the first of what will be a weekly e-mail with a recap of the past week and a look forward into the week to come. We want to keep everyone informed and involved, so please join us in the activities when you can :-).
Blast from the past week:
FHE helped us with the Book of Mormon reading challenge, as we read and discussed Monday and Tuesday's reading together. We ended the evening with a "family counsel" as the Bishop asked everyone questions, which started a great discussion.
Women's Conference was held on Saturday with many wonderful talks and classes. Lunch was delicious with BEAUTIFUL tables set and decorated for us by members of our ward.
Fun was had by all at the well attended OCBC Dance on Saturday. Thanks to the MANY members of our ward who helped organize, decorate, prepare and serve food and clean up.
Sunday Brent W was called into the High Council. We are ever so sad to lose him as the executive secretary, but excited for his new adventures where we know that he will excel! We had 2 great talks by members of the High Council. Br. Vivanco spoke on Alma 26:12 and reminded us that the Lord is in charge, that many things are intertwined and when things go well we need to give the credit to the Lord. Br. Yost spoke about the role of the Bishop in the ward.
At FHE tonight we started with a spiritual thought, followed by a game and we finished the evening by viewing Mars, Saturn (rings and all) and the moon through the Bishop's telescope.
Looking forward:
Friday is Ward Temple Night with sessions at 6:30 and 8:00.
Sunday will be Fast Sunday (because of General Conference the following week). We will have Break the Fast with the theme being Eggs-stravaganza. Please bring food to share :-).
FHE will be at the church at 7:00 p.m. with a lesson on finance and budgeting by Marcia C.
